Jim Davids, Of Counsel

randysinger

Like Randy, James A. (“Jim”) Davids can’t hold simply one job. In addition to practicing law with Singer Legal, Jim teaches and serves as an administrator at Regent University.

After graduating from Duke University School of Law, where he served on the Duke Law Journal, Jim returned to his hometown of Chicago where he practiced law for twenty-five years. For the first six years, Jim was a federal regulatory attorney representing primarily food and drug companies; for the next four years he primarily represented doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice cases; and for the last fifteen years he was a name partner in a Chicago firm where he headed the firm’s litigation practice. During those fifteen years, Jim handled appeals and tried cases ranging from medical malpractice and serious personal injury claims, to employment discrimination cases (both administrative and in federal court), civil rights cases, and commercial disputes.

In 2001, Jim joined the U.S. Department of Justice where he helped establish the Faith-Based & Community Initiative. He joined the faculty of Regent University in 2003, and has taught trial practice, appellate advocacy, and constitutional law. Jim has also served Regent as an Assistant Dean and as director of two programs in the Law School.

In addition to graduating from Duke Law, Jim is a graduate of Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI) and Regent, which awarded him a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. His dissertation topic focused on the three principal legal threats that Christian colleges and universities will face in the next twenty years.

Jim is the past president of the Christian Legal Society, and has served on the boards of several public and private organizations. He and his wife of thirty-five years, Sue, have four children and six grandchildren.
